This article systematizes the exploratory research effort related to the evaluation of the relationship between art and education. It is performed a bibliographical review of the state of the art on the subject, and of the concrete experience in the schools attached to the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Carabobo State Government, to later reflect critically on the contradictions of the education and art relationship, the effects of the valued experience as well as of the teachers' views. After reviewing similar experiences in different Latin American countries, we conclude that art in education must serve to understand the world in an emotional way, recognizing social, cultural, ethical and human diversity aspects. The development of such experiences would be still germinal, even more when they are subject to changes in management. However, Venezuela is singled out for the hope generated by programs such as Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela. The same happens with Movimiento de Teatro para niñas, niños y jóvenes César Rengifo, whose fruits in terms of the changes of attitude towards cultural elitism and the relation of art to education are in full development.
