Learning from the catastrophe in Turkey https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4688
The earthquake that occurred in Turkey on February 6, 2023, although regrettable due to the magnitude of the human and material damage that occurred, provides an opportunity to analyze the state of the art of earthquake-resistant construction in that country, as well as the different actions of government and social organizations committed to the application of regulations to mitigate the damage of these earthquakes. The study presented here of the characteristics of this event and the experience lived at that time by that country, allows to evaluate and compare equally the state of the art in earthquake resistance in the urban axis of the cities Barquisimeto - Cabudare, either in the governmental and social organization, with the purpose of improving the capacity to respond to a seismic event
Eduardo Chollett Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4688 Fri, 15 Dec 2023 00:00:00 -0400 Statistical analysis of the compression strength and porosity of concrete made with cement Portland type 1 and additions CPCA1 and CPCA2 https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4617
In the present research, a comparison is made of the compressive strength and porosity of concrete made with Portland cement type 1, and concrete made with added cement of type CPCA1 and CPCA2, with water/cement ratios of 0,45 and 0,60.The samples come from special degree works presented at the School of Civil Engineering of the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado. A random sampling design with zero block factors was used, through analysis of variance where the hypothesis of equality of means is tested to compare treatments with a 99% confidence level. The rejection of the null hypothesis of equality of means was obtained in the comparison of resistance and porosity with w/c = 0.45, while for porosity with w/c = 0,60. The null hypothesis of equality of means was accepted through the Statgraphics Centurion V19 statistical software. In addition to the statistical analysis, it was obtained that the concretes made with CPCA1 and CPCA2 additives do not meet the design requirements; likewise, it was determined that the porosity of these concretes are highly porous and therefore of inadequate durability
Jesús Andrés Corrales Vargas, José Gregorio Atencio Alfonso, Mariana Suárez Pereira Copyright (c) 2023 Jesús Andrés Corrales Vargas, José Gregorio Atencio Alfonso, Mariana Suárez Pereira https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4617 Fri, 15 Dec 2023 00:00:00 -0400 Intelligent innovation technological district for the city of Barquisimeto, diagnosis for a proposal https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4618
The objective of this research is to carry out a preliminary diagnosis and analysis of the urban context in the industrial zone of the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, in order to detect the feasibility of making a subsequent design proposal for a technological district of intelligent innovation. To do this, a survey was applied to people who work in public and private organizations, as well as university institutions located in areas surrounding industrial zones. The application of the instrument, and the processing of the data, positioned that the proposal for a design of the intelligent innovation technological district is an offer that, in its dimension, is projected as an urban space with key infrastructure for development, innovation, the creation or technological transfer and sustainability that benefits the city. In fact, in the records and analysis provided in this work it could be seen that 80% of the selected sample maintained that the proximity between technology companies contributes to economic and social progress
Stephanie Denise Gallardo Dalaudier, Moises Alejandro Gimenez Caripa, Mayra Alejandra Mendez Fuenmayor, Carlos Eduardo Pacheco González Copyright (c) 2023 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4618 Fri, 15 Dec 2023 00:00:00 -0400 Software for designing prequalified simpson strong-tie strong frame connections in moment resisting steel portal frames according to ANSI/AISC 358-16 https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4619
In this work, a program has been developed for the design of prequalified Simpson Strong-Tie Strong Frame type connections in accordance with the AISC regulatory requirements and within the prequalification and procedure limits contemplated in the ANSI/AISC 358-16 standard. To develop the program, was used the MATLAB software in its R2014a version, specifically its GUIDE environment for the design of the graphical interfaces and their respective programming. The program, called CONESTRONG (Simpson STRONG-Tie STRONG Frame Prequalified Connections), greatly facilitates the design of this type of connection, because it automatically verifies compliance with the various regulatory requirements and guides the user during the process with several suggestions. The results obtained with the program were compared with those of an example developed manually, with satisfactory results
Jesús María Saldivia Manfredil, Gino Pannillo Copyright (c) 2023 Jesús María Saldivia Manfredil, Gino Pannillo https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4619 Fri, 15 Dec 2023 00:00:00 -0400 Infrastructures of the past in the future https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4612
In many cases, the infrastructures planned at the beginning of the 20th century originally had studies of important needs, occupying strategic locations and providing services that, even after the latest advances in technology, have remained unanswered in the 21st century. In other cases, buildings and infrastructure gained importance in traditional use, in the social imagination or as a meeting place for the population, being attractive for reopening with the same or very different uses. The reflection of those who study the history of our infrastructures is, therefore, deserved, since its reason for being usually covers a calm and reflective study of interesting places, necessary connections and strategic uses, and that the development fever made us, in many cases, forget.
Agustín Castillo Martínez Copyright (c) 2023 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas2.uclave.org/index.php/gt/article/view/4612 Fri, 15 Dec 2023 00:00:00 -0400
