The Productivity in medium manufacturing enterprise sector in Barquisimeto, Lara state: a qualitative measuring tool

Abstract

This research aims to propose a qualitative measuring tool that allows to measure productivity in the medium manufacturing enterprise sector in Barquisimeto, Lara State. The design of this research is descriptive and comprise three phases; the first one refers to information obtained from surveyed managers and specialized bibliography sources in order to diagnose the most important elements, by using Regnier's abacus methodology. The second phase led to the construction of qualitative measurement tool on the basis of data obtained and supported on structural analysis. On the third phase it is verified the usefulness of the tool applied in organizations under study to formulate conclusions. It was determined the need in set up alternative measures of productivity and the importance of decisions making for the management in productivity qualitative elements, besides the possibility in combine both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to measure productivity proposing a Gestalt focus that allows to know the social reality of the organizations and to include the productivity as strategy in organizational development plans.
